 Inaugural Meeting of Southeast Virginia Reformation SocietyDate: Saturday, October 03, 2009Time: 09:00 AM - 10:30 AM Location: Bayview Baptist Church  Reformation Societies is a ministry of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals. In 1994, a group of key Christian leaders met in Philadelphia under the leadership of Dr. James M. Boice. They were concerned that the Church in America had yielded to the spirit of the age, especially in terms of Christianity’s consumerism, pragmatism, politicization, and disregard for theological clarity, these leaders lamented that many churches had become very unbiblical—including some churches that loudly affirmed their belief in biblical authority. Hence the Alliance was formed to address their concerns and the Cambridge Declaration was written to affirm their common commitment to biblical authority. For more information on the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals click on the link below: Local Reformation Societies call upon pastors and Christian leaders to unite in an effort to bring reformation to the church. Reformation Societies are a network of leaders who cooperate in the work of reforming the church by affirming the conviction of the Cambridge Declaration, and to encourage, embolden, and equip one another for the practical implementation of biblical principles in our churches. Reformation Societies also elevate the great truths of the Bible in the life of their churches and their region, in particular the “solas” of the Protestant Reformation. The Southeast Virginia Reformation Society will host pastor and church leader meetings that encourage, equip and embolden them as heralds of the Gospel. We will also cooperate together to host conferences in our local area that elevate the great themes of the Bible and of Reformed Theology. Our first meeting will be Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 9:00AM at Bayview Baptist Church in Norfolk. A continental breakfast will be provided. Pastors and elders are invited to attend.
